Booker T. Washington

By: P.C

Hi, I was born in Hales Ford, Virginia on April 5th 1856, I was born into slavery. My father was an unknown white man. After slavery I was a coal miner. I founded the Tuskegee Institute. Also, I was a principal of the Tuskegee Institute. Next, a lot of famous people went to my school like George Washington Carver. I founded an industrial school for blacks. I wanted blacks to get along with whites. I wanted blacks to get better jobs. At the age of nine I found employment as a salt packer. My wife was named Lewis Ruffner. My challenge was that I argued with W.E.B Dubois that people should have a high education and learned more than one skill; I thought that you should only learn one skill. W.E.B. Dubois believed that higher education was what was important. So we disagreed. I died on 1915. Who am I?
