Milton Hershey
by S.D.
Hi, I’m
Milton Hershey. I was born September 13, 1857. My mom sort of had
helped me because she taught me to work hard and never give up. So my
mom had an influence on me. I don’t know why, but when I grew up there
wasn’t anyone I wanted to be like. But my mom got me a job making
candies. My boss was Joseph Royer. That’s how I found out that I
was good at making candy.
I also had other successes in my life. My job was making chocolate. I
had many contributions to this field. One was using fresh, sweet milk.
I also, tried to make my candy affordable where I was living, because
in Europe chocolate was expensive. I also think I might have made
life better for people by making a town for my employees with brick
homes, transportation, and school for their children. I also made lives
better for orphan boys by making a school for them. The character trait
that makes me so successful was that I cared about my workers, I kept
on trying, and I worked hard. I didn’t always make chocolate. Before I
made chocolate, I made caramels. Then I started making chocolate.
I sold my caramel factory for 1 million dollars in the 1900’s. I wasn’t
always successful. I had a problem of failing over and over again. If
people want to benefit for my hard work I would say, “ If you don’t
succeed try, try again,”
