After I stopped being mayor I decided to join the militia and fight in the revolution against the British and Indians .The war went on for six years. It was a bloody battle. It was a wet and cold night when the first gun shot went off.  They say it could be heard all around the world. Later they called us the Minute Men .  That means we are very fast to get ready to fight. We had guns on our fire places. So if the bell rang, all we had to do was grab our guns and get out to the common ground and charge towards them. But  Maryland never had a major battle on the ground, although we had some on the Chesapeake Bay. The important thing is that we ended up winning. We won our independence from England.
