Technology is a wonderful resource for giving immediate feedback to
children and for letting them see what progress they have made or need
to make. I'll give two examples of how technology helps
with this.
Test Pilot- This is a
resource that Howard County offers to its teachers. It allows the
teacher to create a practice test that gives feedback to the student as
soon as they submit it. I have used it for practice tests in
math. It even allows the teacher to place pictures online
to go along with the practice exam. Here is one practice test
that I made.
The test is geometry2. The login is your name. The password
is bug. Click here.
Tracking Test Data- I also have had the children in
my math class keep track of their Unit Test scores using Excel.
Here again is Fred Flinestone's grades grades in graph form.
In the hardcopy I submit to my administrators, I'll include an actual
document that a student made. The children (second graders) can
independently
create an Excel bar graph showing their test data. This was one
of the discoveries
I made this year that pleasantly surprised me. Click here.
