Multimedia Projects throughout the Year
We
did
numerous projects throughout
the year that involved a bit of the multimedia.
One difference between primary and
intermediate is that I had to do
more of the creation.
With the slightly older children, they
would do more. If I remain
in second grade,
I will probably discover more of what
second graders can indeed do
involving multimedia.
This year they took pictures and
helped me film but that was the full
extent of it.
I used film and pictures to document
what they did. Video,
pictures, and webpages
were a motivator to get them to create
and to enjoy the
process. Ideally, I would like them
to do more of the multimedia part
themselves. I'm not there yet.
Here are a few of the projects:
Webkinz:
This was the most successful project we did all year.
And it wasn't a mandatory thing. The kids just ate it up.
We had a Webkinz Club that met
every
Wednesday.
You could only
come if you wrote an article (and brought your Webkinz).
Our plan was to put their articles
online with
a picture.
We
would then play on the Webkinz site.
We began in
February. The first month had heavy attendance.
Then as with all
things, it became less.
But even
in May, three months later,
we
still have a few hard core Webkinzers.
They come every week
devoutly.

We read
The Velveteen Rabbit
earlier in the year. (I love that book!)
The children then wrote stories based
on the concept of a toy coming to
life.
I video taped them reading their
stories.
They brought their own
stuffed animals to school that day.
By the way, this is where I learned to be careful what I name things,
unless I want a zillion %20 inbetween words.

We read
a story called The
Tiny Seed
We made a podcast with the children reading
different parts
and showing their art
work.
This was the first time I really used a podcast
as a way of showing work.
I really would like to do more of it.

Before
Webkinz, there was Pokemon.
We met every Wednesday
and you could come if you wrote about
Pokemon.
This is where the whole club thinggot started.
Whoever created Pokemons was
very......creative.

The Pezzettino Project- We read a book by Leo Leonni. He had
unique art work.
The art teacher then did a project based on that type of art.
Finally, I had the children write stories based on their art.
We then put it all together for the Pezzettino Project.
