Rosa by S.M.
I was born in
McCauley, Alabama on February 4th, 1913. My name is
Rosa Parks and I worked in a factory that made warm stuff like
blankets, I was a very good friend to Martin Luther King because he
wanted desegregation like me. We both believed in
non-violence.
I was working with the civil rights
movements.
I was fighting with very nice words in a way. I think that the
contribution was when I was getting the country desegregated and to get
the Jim Crow laws repealed. I think I got more people happy by
getting us desegregated. I had lots of courage when I went
through all the stuff I did. First I went on the bus and I had a
seat and a white man came up to me and said, “Get up. I need a
seat.” I said, “No, thank you.” Then he told the police and
I got arrested. Martin L. King came and got me out of there and we got
a lot of white people to sit in the black section in the restaurant and
we got the black people to sit in the white section. I got arrested
again then the restaurant gave up and the restaurant and the buses got
desegregated. I think that the bus story is more difficult than
anything else. I would say to students that you should never give up if
you really want it to happen .
