"The War"

My  name is Leanord   P.   One early morningat about 2:00  a.m.  I   heard  hoof beats.    Then someone said,  "The  British  are coming !!!!"   With that  I  was up  and out the door,   pistol  in  hand.  I   then  saw  a  red coat.  Then  I  hid.  I  shot  once and  hit  his  hat  then  fired again  and hit his   him  three times  in  the  chest.   I  ran  to my house  to  get my  musket  because    my pistol  wasn’t  going to cut it.   Then when I  got into my house,  I  saw  Luke  firing at redcoats outside.  I ran out  with my musket  and screamed,  “ Die redcoats !”  t Luke got   out a cannon.   It was a big cannon,  and it took care  of   most of the red coats,  but  we ran out of cannon balls.  There were at least  thirty redcoats left.  Then  I  heard  a man  shoot a gun   and a  pain  in my leg.  I  had  been shot   in the leg.   Luke   tore off   a piece of cloth and wrapped  it around my leg.  I tried  to stand up.  It  was hard  to stand up  as I  regained  consciousness.   Then the next   day as I lay in bed trying to heal,   I read the paper. It said    George    Washington has broken  the enemy's  sword.   We are a free country.

                                                                     2 months later

But there was a new problem.  The Indians wanted more land, and they were going to take our land. So we had to fight back or they would take all our land.  So   Luke and I fought back.   I took an arrow to the arm.   It hurt badly, and I had already been shot in my still healing leg.  Then I looked up as I was lying on the grass.  I saw an Indian looking down on me. He looked like he wanted to help me. He helped me up, took me to the Wigwam and bandaged my arm.  I decided to fight the Indian no longer.
