Welcome to the
Age of Castles. I will tell you about stone castles.
Castles weren't just for palaces. They were also homes. It took
about twenty years to build a castle. In the Great Hall they had
a jester and an entertainer. The jester would juggle
balls. The entertainer had a glove made out of leather and
there would be an eagle on it. He would toss the eagle into the
air. It would fly away and then come back. The jester and
the entertainer would both entertain the king. Did you know that
you spit in the Great Hall? Since people could spit, servants
would put dead flowers and dead leaves to take away the
smell. They also did this because people during this time
would bathe only once a year so they were very smelly. Another
fact is that servants would lift the cover off a plate and a live
peacock would come out. They would then kill the peacock and eat
it. This is simply an introduction to the world of castles. More
information will come shortly.
