Hi, I’m Marie
Tilton, and I’m a doctor and a midwife. But there is a problem that
happened because somebody got a disease called Smallpox. They came to
me but I didn’t know what to do. I had never seen such a disease. I
talked with 10 different doctors but they didn’t know either. We tried
so many different medicines. I stayed up all night. The people who were
also in the hospital got it. We tried surgery and that didn’t work.
Most people died, but some were blind. When I saw that other people
were getting it I knew it was contagious. But, I didn’t know where to
put them. Then it hit me. I could build something next to the hospital
where all the smallpox people go. The owner said yes. Now I asked Mr.
Che’burg to build it, and he said yes. Now not as much people get
smallpox. All they need is rest now.
