Uses of Technology in the Classroom

The Weather Project
The weather project was a project that we did in math. Each child had a city that he or she was responsible for. The children would keep data on temperature and daily weather. We then went to the computer lab and manipulated the data in various ways. We would invite a meteorologist to come to the classroom at the end of the year. We would ask questions and share our data. We used the program Graph Power. If I do this project again, I would probably use Excel.

Communication with Parents
Communication with parents is so important. Not only does it prevent problems, but it creates an atmosphere of teamwork that will benefit the child greatly. For years I've used a weekly homework sheet for communication. Parents came to expect it. When I return to the classroom I most probably will replace the homework sheet with a web page that will be updated on a weekly basis. One of the easiest web pages is called Teacher Web. Not only is it easy to use. It is free! Also it loads quickly unlike some of my graphics.

I have an example of how Teacher Web can be used by a classroom teacher right here.
