Tacking Up
When you ride a horse it is very important to have the proper equipment to control the horse. The first piece of gear is a saddle blanket which is placed under the saddle. Then you will need a saddle because the horses’ back will be more comfortable.  The next item is the girth. There are several types of girths: sting, leather, padded, and webbing. The girth holds the saddle onto the horse which wraps underneath the stomach. The bit is a metal piece that goes into the horses’ mouth to bite onto so that they don’t eat. The bridle is attached to the reins which allows you to control the horse.

Outfit
You may want to wear special clothing when riding a horse. This may consist of a helmet that protects your head if you should fall. Gloves are very important because the reins may slip out of your hands that’s why riding gloves have rough surfaces. The leggings are also important because your legs may rub against the saddle when riding and these pants will protect your legs. The last article of clothing is boots they will help prevent your feet from slipping out of the stirrup.
